Whiskey, Tango. Foxtrot. Over?

What. The. Fuck? I don't even know how to respond to something like that. That's just insane. If George Bush needed to orchestrate a victory somewhere he can pick a better place than some backwater hole like Georgia. Until the whole Georgia thing the Russians have been quiet as a mouse for years. They are crazy. No other explanation. Crazy as loons.

Trouble Brewing

Tropical Storm Gustav, soon to be Hurricane Gustav (again) appears poised to cause a whole bunch of trouble somewhere on the Gulf Coast. Once it clears Cuba there's a lot of awfully warm water between here and there and nothing to break it up. This could be a bad one folks but I'm hoping for the best.

FAIL.

Here we go. This is how the excuses, delays, and ultimate cancellation of the Constellation program begins. As soon as the Messiah, er Obama, takes office he'll look to these types of incidents and shut this program down. Two pretty good potential shuttle successors that were cancelled and placed in the engineering graveyard are:

I'll bet that Burt Rutan ends up owning and operating the United States' only orbital manned spaceflight system before Orion gets off the ground. That's right, I said orbital. Rutan is getting sub-orbital up and running now but orbital flight is the next logical step.

Russia's getting a little pissed.

I believe this can be summed up as follows:

Poland: American dudes, Russians are crazy, yo.
America: How about ABM sites at your place?
Poland: Kthx.
Russia: Dude, WTF?
America: Don't "Dude, WTF" me. You guys are acting all crazy and shit.
Russia: We'll target Poland with nukes!
America: Dude, WTF? You guys are crazy.

Russia digging in?

For country that says it's pulling out they seem to be doing a lot of digging in. Just to up the ante a bit the Russian's have apparently deployed SS-21 ballistic missiles. That'll make things interesting around the ol' negotiating table this evening. Mark my words: things are going to get ugly. A lot uglier than what we've seen to this point.

While I was away...

Yeeikes. Things really heated up while I was away.

Russia is absolutely lighting Georgia up. I love this quote - "It's hard for us to understand what Russia's plan is here." How about permanent occupation of Ossetia. In a few weeks when the world has done nothing about it, and you can be sure that the world isn't going to do one goddamned thing, Russia will just mosey on over to the next province they want and grab that one. Before you know it they'll have captured a bunch of territory (again) and be well on their way to setting the old CCCP back up. On a lighter note, I heard that the folks in Macon evacuated just to be on the safe side.

Bernie Mac has died. Guess you have to watch what you say at Obama's fundraisers.

By the way, if I'm given half a chance I'm relocating to San Diego.
