What an idiot

Steve King, 5th District Congressman from Iowa, step on down and claim your prize. You are the first recipient of the Clod of the Month Award.

Now, before everyone gets their panties in a wad let me explain. The Clod of the Month is going to go to the person or organization that does something that is just extraordinarily stupid that when you read about it the pain centers of your brain are triggered. Do something so extraordinarily dumb that it takes me several hours to regain my sight and several more hours of consuming Woodford Reserve to forget that it happened and you get the prize. So, without further ado:

In an extraordinary example of engaging his mouth before engaging his brain he said in a message to ABC News:

"This sounds to me like open borders advocates exercising the Rahm Emanuel axiom: ‘Never let a crisis go to waste, Illegal immigrants from Haiti have no reason to fear deportation but if they are deported, Haiti is in great need of relief workers and many of them could be a big help to their fellow Haitians."

Uhhh. I have questions.

  • How do you proposed to get all of these people there?
  • They don't have enough food and water now. How can several thousand more mouths to feed help the situation?
  • Whether it's Rahm Emanuel politics or not why would you even bring that up right now?
  • Why would you even say something that sounds insensitive in the wake of a natural disaster? Did you not pay attention in Politician 101? Whether you meant it to be insensitive or not that's how it's going to be perceived and the press and blogosphere will crucify you for it.

You sir, are the Clod of the Month.

Holy God.

On December 17th, 2009 a major, major blow against civil liberties was struck with a simple penstroke. Executive Order 12425 was amended. Here is the text as issued by the White House. Here is President Reagan's original. The big one is wiping out Section 2(c) which excludes International Organizations from being searched and that their archives are not accessible either. That means no Open Records requests to them.

I am just flabbergasted.I don't even know what to say about this. This is one step away from having a group of people running around whose job it is to say "Papers, please." They've allowed an International organization free run of the country without even the most basic of oversight - financial or otherwise since the other sections pretain to taxes and employment regulations.

You must be joking...

A 12-step program for terrorists in Saudi Arabia? Really? We're sending former Guantanamo Bay inmates there and it's only eighty percent effective? The guy that planned the "Underwear Bomber" attack on the plane over Detroit is a graduate? Good God. This is what happens when you take prisoners. How much could the intelligence have possibly been worth? You want to stop these guys? Start killing them until their fighting spirit is crushed. Leave everything in rubble and then provide no assistance to rebuild when were done and prevent any other nation from providing assistance. Do this once or twice and governments will get the picture that the United States is not to be trifled with and material and monetary support will disappear. It's time to go Roman on them.
