The Clod of the Month is going to go to the person or organization that does something that is just extraordinarily stupid that when you read about it the pain centers of your brain are triggered. Do something so extraordinarily dumb that it takes me several hours to regain my sight and several more hours of consuming Woodford Reserve to forget that it happened and you get the prize. So, without further ado:
In an extraordinary example of engaging his mouth before engaging his brain he said in a message to ABC News:
"This sounds to me like open borders advocates exercising the Rahm Emanuel axiom: ‘Never let a crisis go to waste, Illegal immigrants from Haiti have no reason to fear deportation but if they are deported, Haiti is in great need of relief workers and many of them could be a big help to their fellow Haitians."
Uhhh. I have questions.
- How do you proposed to get all of these people there?
- They don't have enough food and water now. How can several thousand more mouths to feed help the situation?
- Whether it's Rahm Emanuel politics or not why would you even bring that up right now?
- Why would you even say something that sounds insensitive in the wake of a natural disaster? Did you not pay attention in Politician 101? Whether you meant it to be insensitive or not that's how it's going to be perceived and the press and blogosphere will crucify you for it.
